No, wait, Twitter's gone again.

Hi all,
No doubt you've noticed that the Twitter widget I added in so proudly just a couple of days ago is gone. Unfortunately, the JavaScript it used from Twitter meant that it didn't obey my given limits, so on lower resolutions, it overlapped the central column.
If you look at the source, you'll notice I just added in comment marks rather than get rid of it; this way, I can edit it and maybe find a way to prevent it from overlapping. Here's hoping, eh?

Added Twitter

I've now added an HTML Twitter widget on the left so you can see what I'm up to all the time! Creepy.

New Track Pack and more to come.

I've released a new track pack, which contains mods of the World Tour tracks that came with the game. It can be downloaded here. I'm also working on a new original themeless track pack. So just good old custom tracks. Be sure to send in your efforts as well!

GeneRally section expanded

I've added an Easter themed Track Pack to the Tracks page, but I've also created a new Sounds page where you can download custom sound packs for use in the game. Enjoy.

Revision

I thought you guys might want to know what exactly I'm doing which is distracting me from my programming and GeneRally stuff. So I'm posting some pictures of my Official Revision Station©.















As you can see I'm revising my History; got my handy spiral bound notebooks out and I'm scribbing up some notes from the revision guide. There's a plethora of stationary scattered about in an untidy fashion and a variety of nick-nacks and curios around the edge. You can see (from left) my Rubik's cube (handy for mental breaks), Yoshi (everybody needs a revision buddy), an unopened pack of highlighters, a can of Pepsi Max (the Official Beverage of Ruairi Dorrity's GCSE Revision 2009©) and some regular common gum (handy concentration aid). On the left you can see the bottom of a long list, which you can see in its entirety below.



















That's my History revision list, spanning 3 A4 pages. This is just topics as well, and if you think that each of those is about 2-4 paragraphs, then you can see my predicament.
And yes, that is a book from the 'for Dummies' range. Don't get all judgemental on me, it's a useful book. Plus, they're actually notorious for being a much higher standard than that of a dummy.

Anyway, I'm starting to waste time blathering on about this so I'd best get back. Got some leftover Chinese takeaway for lunch, so that's a good revision incentive.

W3C says "Yes!"

No doubt you will have noticed the new little W3C buttons at the bottom of the page. No? Scroll down to the bottom and have a look. I'll wait........done? Good. These buttons basically show that the W3C has validated and approved all the XHTML, HTML and CSS on the site. Which means it's perfect. In every way. PERFECT. It took a long time to get here, I now know how lazy I'd been when closing elements tags; there were about ten unclosed tags per page. Then there was character encoding problems, I had to save my JavaScript as a separate .js file and import it into the HTML documents, among other little niggles. It was a rollercoaster. But, it's done and now I can bask in perfection. Enjoy perfection guys. Enjoy it.

Meh, I don't blame you. But look closely and you'll see I added some icons in the navbar. Isn't that delightful? No? I had a hunch.
I'm working on another GeneRally track pack, so you've got that to look forward to. I'm working on it in my revision breaks, so don't be surprised if they come out looking like 20th century world leaders.

Minor redesign and hiatus

As you can see, I've given the site a bit of a shuffle. The News page is now gone and this News Feed is instead embedded on the front page. There's a new GeneRally section of the website where you can check out the great little game and download track packs. I got into this game because it's the kind of thing I'd be working towards when I finish my exams in the summer.

On that note, I regret to inform you that my Win32 and GDK projects have been put on hiatus until I finish my exams on June 12th. It's now getting to the point where I need to focus on revising and stuff, so distractions have to be put to one side for now.This isn't the end, far from it actually, and I will probably give you a quick MS-DOS program if I feel like it, but don't expect much until June 12th.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, SPOCK!

I've programmed the great game of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock', which some might call the ultimate form Roshambo ('Rock, Paper, Scissors' to all us normal folks). You can play games against the computer of any length. I played a 'First to 99' game, and the computer beat me 99-91. I was gutted.

Also, F1 is back, so work will crawl to a halt this weekend, and any weekend when F1 is on. Sorry, but I know where my loyalties lie.

Win32 progresses, but MS-DOS is back.

Ok, progress is being made here. At lunchtime today, I was able to add an icon to my dull old Win32 window and a menu bar, with one two functions: File>Exit and Stuff>About. Thrilling stuff. It's not available to download because, well, it's rubbish, but here's a nice little screenshot of the wonder that is a blank box.

Also, my maths teacher assigned me to write a program to Integrate equations. I'm working on it now, although because my Win32 work isn't very far along the line, it's going to be another MS-DOS box...

Into the unknown: Win32

I've now left the safety of the trusty MS-DOS box, and started crafting my own Win32 windows to run my programs on. Well, that's probably being a bit generous. I've programmed one blank window which, when clicked, displays the directory of the .exe. I would put it up for download, but I won't for obvious reasons.
In other news, I installed DevC++ on my memory stick so I can program at school, along with Firefox (which doesn't work because it's blocked by a bloody firewall) and Notepad++, in case I need to make an emergency update to my site (for some reason, Notepad has been removed from school computers...).
Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. I've stopped work on the GDK to focus on proper core C++. Delicious.

Behold, the all new News page!

Yes, that's right, I've now got my own news page. But I've been ruddy clever about it and embedded a Blogger page into my website so I just need to update this, and the News page updates simultaneously.
Here, you will find, um, news and updates. So you'll know how my current projects are doing, whether I'm taking suggestions for programs etc.
